75 YEARS OF QUIT INDIA MOVEMENT

Why in news?
Sankalp se siddhi -the attainment through resolve is the theme for this year • The PM in his Independence Day speech said that while the Quit India Movement was "Bharat Chhodo,"
the call today is of "Bharat Jode."
The Quit India Movement, 1942
The Quit India resolution was a consequence action in the of Britain's involvement Second World War and its efforts in procuring support from Indians.
According to some historians the major trigger of the movement was The movement did not result in the immediate attainment of freedom for India the failure of the Cripps mission. Several political groups active following which Mahatma Gandhi gavea "Do or Die" call in Quit India speech at Gowalia Tank Maldan. Bombay
Following this a mass protest was watched by all-India Congress Committee whileveral political groups opposed the Quit India Movement The British imprisoned almost the entire leadership of INC without trial which included Gandhiji Nehru and Patel.
Significance
People supported Mahatma Gandhi in large numbers during the movement and followed his call of Door the It united the Indian people against British rule and saw the proactive Involvement of women and students on massive scale
The British now realise that their hold on India was weakening and they began to explore options quit the country
. Poverty lack of education malnutrition are some of the grave challenges that the nation face today. The movement can be an inspiration in this regard to bring about a positive change
The role played by women in the freedom struggle will bring immense strength in the effort to achieve common objectives
Lessons from the movement:
need for today is not Do or Die instead to come together, per severe and work relentlessly with our utmost strength towards the makang of a New and Young India Citizen must unite in a joint effort to establish an India that the country's freedom fighters and founding fathers had dreamt of during the Indian freedom struggle.
There are six key issues that require immediate attention Le elimination of corruption, ensuring the poor get their rights, youth self employment, end to malnutrition empowering women and ending illiteracy movement opposed the Quit India Movement.
Mahatma Gandhi did not formulate any definite programme of action before he was arrested by British The arrest of several important leaders had left a powerful vacuum in communication between the leadership and the masses which led to resorting to violent methods by the volunteers and participants The British refused to grant me
Significance of the movement
• The movement placed the demand for independence as the immediate objective of the Indian National Movement It marked the rise of some new leaders like Aruna Asaf
Relevance of the movement today
. Movements such as Quit India are a source of inspiration and give us strength as a nation It is important for the younger generation to know about historical events like the Quit India Movement
- Our duties must become part of our way of life Fundamental duties as enshrined in the Constitution must be adhered to Conscious effort must be made to teach good moral ethical behaviour and value system in schools
Conclusion
Perhaps there's a need today to give a new slogan for Quit India-to eradicate Poverty, hunger, hatred intolerance and violence from India . India's independence will be achieved in true sense when every citizen will work together for a sustainable and progressive India
